Integrated Transactions: an Emerging Focus for Community Development

This paper examines development models that intentionally integrate elements from two or more sectors, the capital challenges inherent in such projects, and the unique role that community development financial institutions (CDFIs) and philanthropy play in overcoming those challenges. These innovative, emerging models are combining people and place-based strategies to deliver deeper impact to low-income communities, and often require more flexibility and technical support to move forward than the typical capital project.
